Domination: Tennessee scores 6 runs in 5th inning to take commanding lead over LSU
Tennessee now has a commanding 11-2 lead over LSU in Game 2 of the Knoxville Super Regional.
The Vols got off to a hot start thanks to a pair of home runs by Jake Rucker in the first three innings. But they were far from done, adding two runs in the fourth and then six runs in the fifth.
LSU started its ace, Landon Marceaux, in this game, but he was chased after three innings. The Tigers have struggled to get any offense going outside of a pair of solo home runs by Dylan Crews.
Tennessee’s explosive fifth inning started with a solo home run by Dylan Gilbert. After a double, wild pitch and a walk, Tennessee got its biggest hit of the day — a three-run homer — from Jordan Beck.

But Tennessee wasn’t done. The Volts tacked on two more runs, the second of which came on an RBI single by Rucker. He’s now 3-for-4 with four RBIs through the first five innings of this game.
If Tennessee holds on, the Vols will clinch their first College World Series berth since 2005. Tennessee won Game 1 of this Super Regional on Saturday by the score of 4-2.
