Dont’e Thornton made an incredible touchdown grab to give Tennessee football a 7-3 lead over Mizzou.

It was an incredible catch that will overshadow a tough, tough throw from Joe Milton, who dropped a 50-yard bomb right in the bucket for 6. The Vols now have their first lead after missing a couple opportunities earlier in 1st quarter.

Unfortunately, there’s a catch on this one for Tennessee fans. Thornton’s leg/ankle got jumbled up in the catch as he fought to get back inside off the Mizzou corner. He was in considerable pain after the play and had to be helped off the field.

That’s a problem for Tennessee if it turns out to be significant. The Oregon transfer, after a slower start to the year, has really started to make plays for the Vols in the latter stretch of the season.

For now, Tennessee leads 7-3 over the Tigers with 11:45 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
