Eric Gray waited an extra day to announce his decision but in the end, he made the pick most anticipated he would following his early December decommitment from Michigan — the three-time Mr. Football winner in the state of Tennessee is officially a Vol.

He announced his commitment during a signing ceremony at his high school on Thursday.

Gray is the first player in the history of the Mr. Football award to win it three times in the state of Tennessee. He is also a finalist for Gatorade National Player of the Year following his senior season.

Jeremy Pruitt’s program desperately needs some offensive playmakers and Gray should deliver that in spades. The Lausanne Collegiate School product from the Memphis area finished his high school career with 8,187 rushing yards and 124 rushing touchdowns (123 of which came in his final three seasons).

He’s a big play waiting to happen and a player that will likely help Tennessee immediately next season. Gray is the only running back commit for the Volunteers in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

247Sports Composite Rankings rates as a four-star prospect, the nation’s No. 4 all-purpose running back, and the No. 171 overall prospect in the nation.
