ESPN called out for Peyton Manning graphic fail during Orange Bowl
By Andrew Olson
Published:
Peyton Manning was on hand to watch Tennessee win the Orange Bowl on Friday night. Manning’s presence in Miami Gardens got the attention of the ESPN cameras. ESPN’s production team put up an onscreen graphic that was complimentary, but not accurate.
The World Wide Leader is being called out for describing Manning as a member of the Volunteers’ 1998 national championship team. One part of the graphic correctly lists Manning’s Tennessee years as 1994-97, but the ’98 slip was there for all to see. Manning was in his NFL rookie season in 1998.
ESPN had a graphic showing “Peyton Manning 1998 National Champion” on the #OrangeBowl broadcast.
Peyton was not a member of that Vols championship team (which was quarterbacked by Tee Martin). He was with the Indianapolis Colts in 1998. ? pic.twitter.com/g03LhZ0msB

As expected, fans noticed the onscreen error. While ESPN may have forgotten about Tee Martin, many fans watching were quick to recognize the actual QB of the 1998 national champions.

ESPN really just put a graphic up that said Peyton Manning was a national champion lol.

Lmao ESPN messed up the Peyton Manning graphic. He was NOT a national champion in 1998. He was a Colt

Did that ESPN graphic say that Peyton Manning has a national championship at Tennessee? I could’ve sworn Tee Martin was QB when that happened.

Bad looks. Hella disrespectful to Tee Martin who in fact won the 98 championship https://t.co/xEsKw1hHVk

ESPN just awarded Tee Martin’s 1998 national championship to Peyton Manning.
