The situation at Tennessee may be beyond repair for AD John Currie at this point, less than 48 hours removed from the Greg Schiano fiasco.

The AD’s job is reportedly on the line, and it will be interesting to see if he can survive the ongoing job search.

On ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM on Monday, host Mark Packer said he would resign if he were in Currie’s shoes, especially since fans seem to think they know what the school needs better than he does:

“Did he misjudge the fan base? Obviously,” he said. “However, Tennessee, you hired Tennessee to do his job. He believed Greg Schiano was the right fit. If I was John Currie, if I was in his shoes, given what has transpired in the past 24 hours, I would resign. …

“I would get out of Knoxville as fast as physically possible. … This has become so toxic. Why wouldn’t any big-time coach even think about going to the University of Tennessee? They wouldn’t.”

What happens next in this ongoing saga is unknown at this point, but there are sure to be some more twists and turns before all is said and done.
