ESPN’s Sam Acho provides ‘simple’ solution for slowing down Tennessee’s elite offense

ESPN analyst Sam Acho knows Tennessee has the kind of offense that can put defenses on their heels all game long. However, he has a simple solution to slowing down Josh Heupel’s offense.

Before anyone freaks out, Acho understands his solution is rather impractical. And illegal, but it’s his best way to try and stop the Vols.

“It’s actually really simple: They just need to put speedbumps out about every 10 yards to slow down this Tennessee offense,” said Acho as his co-hosts burst into laughter. “It’s crazy how fast they go and not even from a speed perspective but from a yards per play perspective.”

Tennessee’s explosiveness starts at quarterback, but Acho explains that is just one small part of the plan. It all boils down to what has been an electric rushing attack for Tennessee early in the season.

“They get you distracted by Nico Iamaleava… and then they just hand the ball off… This team is running at an electric and elite pace, and they spread you out and they have wide rush lanes,” Acho explained.

“You had me going there for a second when you said it was ‘simple’,” cracked Tom Luginbill in the aftermath.

There is certainly nothing simple about controlling Tennessee’s offense, and it is a major reason why the Vols are a 7-point favorite on the road per bet365. Fans can take advantage of SDS’s TN sports betting promos to get in on all the action.
