One of Tennessee’s biggest signees of the Jeremy Pruitt era could be looking to continue his college football career somewhere other than Rocky Top.

Multiple outlets, including 247Sports and The Athletic, are reporting that Wanya Morris has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Other teams will be able to recruit Morris in the portal, though he is not bound to leave the UT program. Volunteers defensive back Shawn Shamburger recently entered his name into the transfer portal but opted to withdraw it and rejoin the team instead of transferring out.

Vols fans, however, should not count on Morris returning to Rocky Top. David Ubben of The Athletic reports that “Tennessee indicated it is canceling Wanya Morris’ financial aid due to entering the portal, according to data in the portal.” That’s a strong indication that Morris’ time on Rocky Top has come to an end.

From Grayson, Georgia, Morris is a former 5-star prospect. He received 26 scholarship offers during his recruitment, including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M. LSU and FSU were in his final three.

Will Friend, Morris’ most recent position coach, is now on staff at Auburn after a brief stop at South Carolina.
