Former Tennessee coach Donnie Tyndall lands new job, will likely coach Jordan Bone a lot
Donnie Tyndall lasted only a year as Tennessee’s head men’s basketball coach, guiding the Vols to a 16-16 record during the 2014-15 campaign.
Then, his past violations at Southern Miss caught up with him and he was fired by Tennessee. Subsequently, he was given a 10-year show cause penalty by the NCAA.
Now, he’s been working in the pro ranks, and on Monday, it was reported that he had a new gig — head coach of the Detroit Pistons’ G-League affiliate:
Former Tennessee, Southern Miss and Morehead State coach Donnie Tyndall — who was hit with a 10-year show cause by the NCAA a few years back — has been hired as Detroit Pistons G-League head coach (Grand Rapids Drive).

That is very interesting because former Tennessee PG Jordan Bone was recently drafted by the Pistons and has a two-way contract with the team, meaning he’ll likely spend plenty of time this season with the pro team and with Tyndall in Grand Rapids.
How will Tyndall fare with the Drive? We’ll find out this fall.
