Former Tennessee player comes forward, helps Peyton Manning's case
A former Tennessee player apparently was in the room when the incident between Peyton Manning and Jamie Naughright took place on Feb. 29, 1996.
Vols linebacker Greg Johnson, once a roommate of Manning’s, told The Monday Morning Quarterback on Wednesday that he didn’t see Manning place his buttocks, rectum, testicles and “area in between testicles” on her face as Naughright has claimed.
Johnson said when he entered the room, Manning was leaning on a training table with one elbow as Naughright was examining his foot from behind.
“Saxon walks in, and Peyton was the kind of guy who had to be friendly with everyone; he wanted to include everyone, from his teammates to the cross country guy. He says hey to Saxon and pulls down the back of his shorts, and I saw one butt cheek, and then he pulled his pants up. And Jamie said something like, ‘Aw, you’re an ass.’ Then I left. Thought nothing of it.”
Johnson said contact didn’t occur while he was present in the room. Manning has denied those accusations from the former Tennessee trainer as well.
“It just didn’t happen,” Johnson said. “Later someone in the administration asked me what happened. They asked if Peyton mooned somebody. They said you can’t do that with a female trainer present. Next thing I know, Peyton is banned from the chow hall. He took his punishment; as 20-year-olds we understood that you can’t do that.”
So let’s see. He was asked about the incident when it happened, yet this wasn’t mentioned in any reports before nor was his statements brought in the original investigation. Why’s that? I mean if he’s right, then he’s right, but why not say anything before. Why now?
Probably because the trainer originally just said she was mooned. A story everyone agrees with and Manning never denied.
However, everytime the trainer brings this up, she adds another twist to the story to get more attention/money again.
Now that she is accusing him of rubbing every private part a man has on her face while she was powerless to stop it, I imagine he would now feel the need to stand up and remind people of the original story she brought up.
His word was never relevant before now. Considering her original complaint was seeing a butt in the men’s training room.
I wondered the same thing but according to yahoo.com/news/witness-comes-forward-contradicting-sexual-200300608.html, “Johnson says he was not asked to give his side of the incident in 2001, as he was overseas at the time.” TIFWIW.
During the investigation in 2003 he was overseas serving our country and wasn’t available for questioning and of course knew nothing about the incident being brought to the public as he was involved in a war
I see what y’all are saying. Now if she’s the one who really brought up mooning, then I’d imagine there would be more push on that, but idk. One thing that still sticks out to me is the fact that Saxton denies he mooing ever took place. But with this former player coming forward, not it’s just 2 vs 2. And who are you gonna believe. That’s why their should be cameras in the training rooms and any other part of the athletic and training facilities.
Skegee, I tend to believe the guy whose story has never changed vs the accuser whose story has changed over time and who has plenty of evidence on social media to safely conclude she is bat s_ _ _ crazy.
Female trainers should deal with female athletes and not be in male locker rooms. That’s just asking for a problem.
Totally agree.
The training room isnt the locker room, but if its known to be a co-ed area then it should be known as a keep your pants on area, given that any athlete from any team could be using that area. This seems to be a major tempest in a tea pot and if Peyton wasnt who he was this would never have surfaced AGAIN.
This woman likes to sue people for money. That’s a quote from one of her former friends whom she sued in a it slip and fall. At the same time she had this lawsuit against her friend she also had a lawsuit dismissed against a fashion designer. It is also quoted in a lawsuit that she is a very litigious client.
The only problem with this, is the man in question, Saxon has denied this account and put manning on blast for his behavior.
If you read the SI article, this woman lives on lawsuits. Her first mention, of anything other than mooning didn’t happen until 7 years after this happened. I believe the woman is not stable mentally. The local paper had to call in the FBI because of all of her delusional and harassing phone calls over the years.
I’m no Tennessee fan, but I feel bad for the sorry shape this team’s in.
