The USC Trojans didn’t have the best showing in Friday night’s Cotton Bowl against Ohio State, falling to the Buckeyes 24-7.

It was a putrid performance from the Trojans’ offense, which is currently led by former Tennessee QB Tee Martin, who has been USC’s offensive coordinator since last season.

Many Tennessee fans wanted the 1998 national champion to return to Knoxville as the Vols’ head coach this offseason, but an ex-USC quarterback, Sean Salisbury, thinks Tennessee dodged a bullet:

Salisbury expanded on his thoughts on Martin in the replies to his original tweet, continuing to question Martin’s play-calling ability:

Obviously,  it wasn’t entirely Martin’s fault that the Trojans struggled against Ohio State’s elite defense, but it was a disappointing showing, for sure.

Martin is still very popular on Rocky Top, but Salisbury thinks the Vols made the right decision by passing on him as a head coach.
