Gary Danielson receives backlash over alleged bias during call of Florida at Tennessee
Gary Danielson and Brad Nessler were on the “SEC on CBS” call of Florida at Tennessee, and fans were not happy with Danielson.
Some decided to change the channel ahead of time away from the key SEC game of the day, while others, namely Tennessee fans, called him out for perceived bias in favor of Florida. One fan even suggested CBS switch Danielson out for his former broadcast partner, Verne Lundquist. Another fan chose to watch the game online to avoid the Danielson commentary.
Danielson’s cause wasn’t helped by Tennessee trailing for much of the first half, as Anthony Richardson had his best game so far since the Utah win in the season opener.
Tennessee scored late to take a 17-14 lead into halftime.
Here’s a sampling of the first-half reaction:
I chose the @SECNetwork from ESPN today over @SEConCBS BECAUSE OF Gary Danielson. Do I want to watch Ole Miss? No, I do not. Do I deserve to be frustrated today by a commitment to awful commentary? NO, I DO NOT.

$250 to the fan that breaks into the press box and gags Gary Danielson. Already tired of his mouth.

Congrats @SEConCBS. You made it almost the entire first quarter before I had to mute your audio. Please take Gary Danielson off the air…

Don’t want to jinx it…but, I’ve been watching the TN v. FL (two teams I absolutely despise, but hope TN beats FL…because FL) game online and there is absolutely no commentary. Just game, band and crowd. And it’s wonderful…especially to not have to endure Gary Danielson.

Anyone have suggestions on how to mute Gary Danielson when the Vols play on #CBS?

“That ball wasn’t 20 feet in the air, what a rocket. I just love Florida and can’t believe they actually just called ‘false start’ on Florida. Also I’m Tool”

Gary Danielson could not be routing for Florida more if he tried

Gary Danielson expecting replay for the injury and them just cueing up the obviously completed catch as if it was a review is peak CBS.
