Grant Williams has developed into a key piece of the Boston Celtics roster since joining the franchise as a 1st-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, Williams is reportedly on the move this offseason as a part of a sign-and-trade deal.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Celtics are completing a 3-team deal with the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks. The deal sends Williams to the Mavericks, Reggie Bullock and a pick from Dallas to the Spurs and multiple 2nd-round picks to Boston.

Williams’ reported deal as a part of the trade is significant, giving the forward a 4-year and $54 million contract.

This past season, Williams set career-high marks across the board with 79 appearances and 23 starts for the Celtics team that went 57-25 and was 2nd in the Eastern Conference. He averaged 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 45% from the field and 39.5% from 3-point range.

We’ll see how Williams fits into Dallas’ plans but that is a nice payday coming off his 4th NBA season.
