Tennessee not only lost on the road at Auburn last week, the Vols lost Greg Emerson to an injury.

After starting nine games in 2019, the redshirt sophomore has yet to start a single contest for Tennessee yet this season but he has provided some quality depth for a defense that could use all the help it can get at the moment.

The good news for Tennessee, after leaving the Auburn game due to an injury, Emerson’s status for the rest of the season looks optimistic, according to Jeremy Pruitt.

Here is what the Tennessee coach had to say when asked about Emerson’s status on Monday during his first press conference of the week.

“Coming out of high school, Greg had a really bad injury, didn’t have a chance to play his senior year,” Pruitt said of Emerson. “He had a little twist there on an old injury. He’ll probably be day-to-day this week.”

That’s good news for the Vols as Tennessee is set to travel to Vanderbilt this weekend looking to end the team’s five-game losing streak.
