Hendon Hooker was not able to finish out his Tennessee career like he had hoped. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the former Tennessee QB is going to be visiting with an NFL team soon.

Rapoport stated that Hooker is planning on visiting with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday. Rapoport also said that Hooker’s prospects are positive even after the clean ACL tear.

The Saints have shown interest in former Tennessee players recently with names like Alvin Kamara and Alontae Taylor being drafted. Marquez Callaway joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent after not getting picked in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Kamara was selected by New Orleans in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Callaway is no longer with the Saints, but was signed by the Denver Broncos. Taylor was picked in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and currently plays CB for the Saints.

Hooker torn his ACL in the second to last game of the season against South Carolina, effectively ending his year. The Volunteers won 11 games for the first time since 2001 after beating Clemson in the Orange Bowl behind backup QB Joe Milton III.

Hooker played at Tennessee for two seasons after transferring from Virginia Tech. During that time he had 6,080 yards passing with 68 total touchdowns and just 5 interceptions.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Saints end up taking yet another former Tennessee player. New Orleans currently has the No. 29 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
