Here's how much Tennessee paid Georgia State for Saturday's game
The Tennessee Volunteers hosted Georgia State on Saturday afternoon in a game many thought would be an easy win for the Vols.
Instead, it was a 38-30 victory for Georgia State, who won at Neyland Stadium — the program’s first win over a Power 5 school.
For the privilege of losing to Georgia State, the Vols also had to shell out $950,000 to the Panthers — more than their head coach’s yearly salary:
$515,000: Base salary of Georgia State football coach Shawn Elliott.
$950,000: What Georgia State got paid to beat Tennessee today.

Overall, it was bad day for the Vols, who are now 0-1 and face a lot of questions heading into Week 2 against BYU.
Can Jeremy Pruitt and his players turn things around? We’ll start finding out soon, but it was a rough start to a year with high expectations.
