How Grant Williams fared during his NBA Summer League debut
The NBA’s Summer League is in full swing, and several former SEC stars have made their debuts.
The latest debut comes from former Tennessee standout Grant Williams. The Boston Celtics drafted Williams in the first round (22nd overall) this summer, and his debut came off the bench Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Williams totaled 19 minutes, scored 12 points and added six rebounds. He also recorded two steals, two blocks and two assists.
Below is a video of Williams draining a three:
Grant Williams excites me a lot. This is a 6’7″, 240lb forward initiating pick-and-roll, making the correct read off of a hard gap stunt and with the awareness to relocate and hit an open three.

Williams also threw down a strong dunk, too, off the inbounds play:

Tennessee fans are certainly used to the consistency of Williams, and Boston fans will certainly come to realize this. Williams’ pro career is off to a strong start.
