How To: Bet on the Vols in Tennessee
Online sports betting in Tennessee officially launched last week, but this weekend marks the first time bettors can wager legally on the Vols in Tennessee.
With a prime time matchup with Arkansas tonight (followed by the Titans and Bears on Sunday), sports betting enthusiasts will have no shortage of options to wager on the local teams.
Here’s what Vols fans need to know about where and how you can bet this weekend.
Which sportsbooks are live?
Tennessee, which actually doesn’t offer in-person sports betting, approved four online sportsbooks at launch: DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Tennessee Action 24/7.
DraftKings and FanDuel are the two leading sportsbooks in the country and it’s no surprise they’re available in Tennessee at launch. Both of the daily fantasy incumbents have built robust and class-leading sportsbooks on the backs of their brand names. We can easily recommend both in Tennessee, but they aren’t the only options.
BetMGM is the best mobile sports betting experience among traditional casino brands. Whereas popular casino operators have struggled to impart their sportsbook experience to a mobile device, MGM has been out ahead of the fold.
They launched BetMGM on their own platform and partnered with a number of sports leagues to use officially licensed names, logos and data throughout the app. They also offer an approachable experience to casual players.
While not as good as DraftKings Sportsbook or FanDuel Sportsbook, BetMGM offers a solid betting experience in Tennessee.
Lastly, their is Tennessee Action 24/7, a local brand that will target only, you guessed it, the Tennessee market. We haven’t gotten our hands on this one yet, but we imagine they’ll struggle to compete with the bigger brands.
Betting on the Vols
For the Vols game on Saturday night, there are two marquee, no-brainer type betting offers from both DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook Tennessee:
- FanDuel bet $5, win $125 if the Vols win (currently two-point favorites)
- DraftKings bet $1, win $100 if either team wins
Both of these are great offers and frankly you should grab each of them.
Legal sportsbooks routinely roll out offers on local teams when they launch. There is a furious competition for new players, and bettors benefit from using these signup offers to their advantage– giving you a chance to try out apps with little risk beyond a small deposit.
We prefer FanDuel’s offer both because it has a slightly higher payout and because it’s easier to find in the app.
