Tennessee tailback Jalen Hurd is expected to practice Monday after suffering a shoulder injury in Saturday’s 10-9 loss to Florida. Head coach Butch Jones confirmed that the freshman will participate in team drills during his weekly press conference.

“We anticipate him being at practice today,” Jones said. “He had a little bit of a shoulder ding in the game, but he went back in. He’s received treatments and we fully anticipate him being ready for Chattanooga. He’ll be participating in practice today. He’s cleared for practice, so he’ll be fine. It’s just the wear and tear that goes on with shoulders of a running back that plays physical. No more, no less.”

Hurd leads Tennessee with 367 yards and two touchdowns through his first five collegiate games. The Hendersonville, Tenn., native is averaging 73.4 yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry. However, Hurd was limited to just 39 yards on 10 carries after missing several possessions midway through Saturday’s loss.

The former five-star prospect missed the majority of his senior season at Beech High School after suffering a torn labrum in his right shoulder in his team’s opening game. Jones did not specify which shoulder Hurd injured on Saturday.
