Jauan Jennings appears to intentionally step on helmetless Vanderbilt player's face
Jauan Jennings is one of the more passionate and emotional players in the nation but that isn’t necessarily a good thing at all times.
Case in point, during a rivalry game against the SEC team closest to his hometown of Murfreesboro, it appears the Tennessee senior intentionally stepped on the face of a helmetless and helpless Vanderbilt player Saturday night in Neyland Stadium.
While it’s impossible to read intentions in this video, it isn’t a great look for Jennings.
Check it out below:
Jauan Jennings should be kicked out of the game & off the team…

What do you think, did Jennings do this on purpose?
He probably meant to not pay attention (all players do) and getting the face was a bonus.
Just like that starting center for UGA that intentionally broke Shy Tuttle’s leg from behind while the play was down field, in a dawg stance on the ground. Then they go and put the dude on the season ticket for the TN game the next year. Coincidence? I think not! But we never heard about that from the media.
Absolute trash. He is still 1-3 against Vandy in his career.
You had s nice run but it’s over. Get ready for another 39 game losing streak.
Congrats you beat the worst run defense in the FBS and the worst QB in Vandy history. Vandy fans got spoiled with Kyle Shurmur who knew how to beat UT badly.
To be fair-Vandy faced the two worst UT teams in the modern era (one of which was the worst ever). Goes both ways.
Yeah and congrats on beating an 0-8 Vols team. Really shocked the world there!
Heh heh… sad Vandy fans are the best.
2-2
2-2? Dude it’s like 80-35. Get outta here
Jennings went 2-2 against vandy. He got a medical redshirt in 2017 and did not play in that game. He was apart of the beat down in 2015. If you want to trash him at least be accurate.
It doesn’t look like he was looking down at the time he stepped on the Vandy player..I don’t think it was done on purpose,or the Refs would had flagged him..SMH
Exactly. There were officials right there. If his foot was going down to find traction and the guys head was there… well hate that he accidentally mashed him.
Seems not to be purposeful given the angle of his head (away) and the fact that multiple players were pressed up against him as he was placing his foot in an attempt to turn. Compare this to Ndamukong Suh/Albert Haynesworth incidents, where both were looking. I think Jennings should get the benefit of the doubt here, but I understand how clicks are needed for this site.
I mean he did rip the helmet off, push the ref, then get all hyped for what just happened. Even if it was an accidental stomp, not a good look.
I don’t disagree-you don’t want to see any sort of scuffle and I don’t want anyone’s head stomped. Only Larry Munson thinks that is applaudable behavior.
You’re a complete moron, plain and simple. Larry Munson? It was a SAYING that had nothing to,do with actually doing it, idiot. And yes, it is CLEAR that this thug did it on purpose. Dude was a punk in high school. Useless thug
He did not RIP his helmet off. What are y’all talking about? Everyone needs to chill out. Goodness gracious. You lost, streak is over and the streak is about to go the other way for a long time. Enjoy the memories of winning those three in a row.
You’re saying he didn’t know where the vandy players face was after he tackled and held the dude on the ground? So when he stepped in the exact same space as the dude (who’s face was just pretty close to his, as he tackled him) he didnt know where his face was? You really want to make that arguement?
That’s precisely he argument I’m making. It was a missed step, not a stomp. Your argument rests on you reading Jennings mind or having some info we don’t have on his ability to blindly measure where someone’s head is. Rather different than the stomping plays I reference above.
Only if you’re a dumbass Tennessee fan. My arguement rests on the FACT that one second before he stomped, with cleats on, on the players face that he JUST tackled, he was holding the man down. Then just steps on his face. You are a moron if you think it was unintentional.
Haha here we go. Tough night Bammer.
Insults aren’t an argument and you haven’t addressed my points.
Insults are not my arguement. They are insults, at you, which you deserve cause you are a moron. I did infact address your point, you are just too stupid to understand it apparently. Also insulting you does not negate my argument. Neither does you ignoring it.
Insults aren’t my argument. Then proceeds to insult me without an argument. Pretty comical. Your anger is very telling.
Y’all hang on…I’m still popping the popcorn. Then continue….
Another Gator troll?
Not especially. Just enjoying the show.
I actually favor your statement of position in the matter at hand.
Oh-that’s completely diff. With the comment on an article unrelated to UF in any manner and the general behavior of UF fans on this site (well, in general), I was out of line in making that connection.
It’s all good, but your main antagonist most likely will take a swipe at me.
But since I’m enjoying UF dismantling the Criminoles at the moment, I’m not too concerned.
If it was intentional he would have looked down and made a stomping motion. So why is that so hard to understand?
Hes passionate like Kash Daniel….
Man Kentucky must be really under these gay ass gators skin.
Howd that not get moderated? For the record, what’s wrong with being gay? Its 2019, people can be gay of they want.
Get outta here gator. You, gatorboy and corch should be the last ppl to try to become the PC police. This is laughable.
What did I say?
“What’s wrong with being gay” that’s what you said.
If TN has any character, it will boot him from the team and school.
The refs didn’t even flag it. Doesn’t appear to be intentional and certainly isn’t definitively so from the only evidence we have. This is Bama morality at its finest.
And I’m specifically referring to your comment on TN deserving its struggles bc of Fulmer’s testimony about Bama. Funny how no Bammers are ever angry about the fact that Bama was on record playing a recruit. They’re always mad at Phil for calling them on it though. Shouldn’t you be crying on the Iron Bowl articles instead of here?
It was definitely intentional how could it not be? Do you think he forgot where the player he just tackled was?
Again-tell me how you know what he was thinking or any level of intent. Tell me how the players pressed up against him had no impact. Tell me how the velocity of his foot was a stomp and not a step. Provide any level of evidence other than be conjecture you’ve continuously posted. Well, that and the ad hominems.
Again I dont need to know what he was thinking. I just need to use my eyes to see that he just tackled the man, then got up and stepped right where the man he just tackled was. It is impossible that Jennings forgot where the other player was. You moron.
Again-you’re admitting conjecture based on info you provide no evidence for. You then insult me yet again-which is the last bastion of logic to those without an argument.
Oskie get real dude, what do you need to see to open your eyes. He pulled his helmet off clearly knew where his head was and not only stepped on it but pivoted. I’m all for standing behind and defending your team but this was dirty and needs to be addressed.
100% intentional. How could he tackle a player then immediately forget where they were, then step on their face? Only a moron could believe that. Right oskie?
Give me a logical argument with evidence and I’ll consider. Otherwise keep insulting because you have no argument.
Just a thought…Maybe don’t answer your article’s question in the title. I’m sure “SDS Staff” translates to journalism undergrad so it’s understandable. Just do better next time.
Jennings is an immature thug. He also doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt End of story. He bad-mouthed the previous coaching staff so ardently that he got kicked off the team (because his minutes were clearly dictated by the coaches lying to him and not his sense of entitlement or work ethic or his weed habit). All you have to do is look at the transcript of his rant back in 2017 to understand the attitude that provoked this outburst today. If Pruitt has any integrity, he just needs to boot that jamoke. He’s a senior. You’re not going to miss him at this juncture. He helped win you some games this year, but he seems to be a real POS. I feel like Jennings would be genuinely gutted to miss the Vols’ bowl-game, so it’s a real punishment. You can celebrate and talk trash all you want, but when you’re savagely ripping a guys helmet off and directing a spike at his head, that’s just ridiculous. I agree completely with DJ Shockley that it was one of the dirtiest and lowest things I’ve seen this year.
This is one of those cases where it’s clear to EVERYONE (except the fans of that team/player) and they’ll defend him to the death! Dude is a thug and always has been. It’s obvious he did it on purpose, but UT fans will swear up and down that he is a good dude and it was an accident. Bama, jawja, and gayturd fans would do the same for their players too!
And I’m sure you would criticize a player on your team too right? Yeah right? Who’s your college team by the way?
Yep, I’ve already criticizec the idiot thug yesterday (Pickens)……but undefending this punk is comical. Just go back and watch his video from a couple years ago. Dude is a PUNK
Criticized, and YOU defending him lol
Work ethic it effort? Get out of town dude.
He knew the guy was on the ground without a helmet and turned to stomp off. Even if he did not mean it, it is a perfect example of stupid and unreasonably dangerous behavior. The SEC and NCAA cannot allow that go without consequences.
You are going to be very disappointed then bc he wont be suspended for that. And again, its bc that video cant prove it was an intentional act. And the hit was not flagged. Scuffles happen all of the time. There were no punches thrown and emotions are high. If every player on the roster played with the heart and emotion that Jennings does, then TN would be sitting at 9 wins right now. Get over it already.
You said the same about Klubanow, right?
That didn’t look intentional. It looked stupid. It also looked like someone with zero presence of mind or self control. He’s not a thug. But, he is immature, out spoken, and emotional.
Have to agree with Rico. That Vandy player should be booted ( pun intended) from the team for stomping Jennings foot with his face. Hope the foot is ok.
Enough presence of mind to catch a 60 yard hail Mary to beat you in Athens, lol.
Yea…lol. Wait…you live in Nashville. LOL
Hahahahaha…..what’s happened since that miracle catch by your precious THUG loser????? I’ll help u. 41-0 at YOUR place, 38-12 in Athens, and 43-14 at YOUR place AGAIN. OUCH! If I were a vol, I’d just stfu
If it was intentional he would have looked down and made a stomping motion. So why is that so hard to understand?
Being the punks that they always are, the Vandy players came to play dirty from the outset. On the game’s first offensive play, they ripped off not one but two separate Tennessee players helmets by the facemasks – on the same play! So for all you Vandy mind-readers out there, can you divine intent from that, or was it just a remarkable coincidence?
From the video, I can’t tell whether the foot/face contact was accidental (the result of a lot of bodies pressing into Jennings when the Vandy players rushed the sideline) or a perfect execution of “unintentional” intentionality. But I do know this, in football, you reap what you sow, and it is only to be expected that an uber-passionate player like Jennings will be the one to bring in the harvest.
So if this was a dirty play (and I am not at all convinced that it was), then it came in response to a whole game filled with dirty plays and all you Vandy fans should stop hating on Jennings and instead focus your efforts on getting mentally prepared for another three decades of unrelenting domination.
GoDawgs says the SEC and NCAA cannot allow this type of “unreasonably dangerous behavior,” and I agree. But the fact is that there are eight or nine officials on the field and more in replay booths whose job it is to spot and penalize dirty plays. In this game, their failure was glaring. I already mentioned the two helmets ripped off on the first play. Only one of those was flagged and that was offset by penalizing one of the two helmet-less Vols for continued participation. In a later play a Vandy receiver ran 15 or 20 yards down the sideline yanking Bryce Thompson’s facemask. That play was flagged. The refs called pass interference on the player who was being dragged along by the facemask! So when you have this going on for 56 minutes you can’t focus on one play during the last 4 minutes of the game and rain all your crap down on one guy. That is not a reasonable or fair response.
I’m surprised Jennings didn’t get down on all fours, raise his leg, and act like he was pissing on him.
