Jay Bilas rips NCAA for denying Cade Mays' eligibility waiver for 2020 season
Jay Bilas — the ESPN college basketball analyst — has long been one of the most vocal critics of the NCAA.
So, on Monday, when the NCAA denied the immediate eligibility waiver for Tennessee OL Cade Mays, it’s no surprise that Bilas had something to say.
As you can see below, Bilas ripped the NCAA for the decision and said the organization has a chance to make things right with Tennessee’s appeal:
Good grief. With all we’re going through, Cade Mays has his transfer waiver denied? The NCAA has a chance to right this wrong on appeal, and should. Mays didn’t have a choice but to leave Georgia, and the NCAA knows it. Too bad Mays isn’t a QB…he’d be eligible immediately. https://t.co/5AeFiJoG5a

The negative reaction from Bilas has been echoed by many across social media. Even non-Tennessee fans are baffled by the ruling.
Will the NCAA overturn its own decision about Mays? We’ll hopefully find out in a timely fashion, though that’s not a guarantee.
