Jay Hardy has long been a top target for Jeremy Pruitt and his Tennessee coaching staff but if the Vols aren’t careful, another SEC East team could reach into the Volunteer State and land one of the state’s top prospects.

The McCallie School product from Chattanooga updated his recruitment on Friday and announced the five schools currently on his radar — Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and Georgia Tech.

The 6-foot-4, 290-defensive lineman actually plays both ways for McCallie, serving as a tight end on offense, but his future appears to be cemented on the defensive side of the ball once he arrives at the campus of his choice. 247Sports Composite Rankings list Hardy as a four-star recruit, the No. 5 strongside defensive end and the No. 177 overall prospect in the nation for the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Hardy has yet to announce a date for his upcoming college decision.
