Before Tennessee went on a recruiting tear this spring and became the talk of the college football recruiting world, one of the program’s biggest wins of the 2021 recruiting cycle came from North Carolina native, Jaylen Wright.

One of the fastest players in the state of North Carolina during his junior season at Southern High School in Durham, Wright rushed for 901 yards on just 89 attempts. Wright also runs track and has been timed at a verified 10.85 seconds in the 100-meters dash.

Looking to upgrade the program’s speed at the running back position, Tennessee’s coaching staff couldn’t do much better than Wright when it comes to adding blazing speed to the position group.

Following an offseason of putting work in the weight room, Wright recently wanted to make sure he still had his No. 1 asset to rely upon.

According to the rising high school senior, he recently clocked a hand-timed 4.28 40-yard dash. If accurate, Tennessee doesn’t have to worry about Wright losing any speed on the field.
