Sometimes you simply have to pay up for a loss. JD Davison is learning that the hard way.

Davison, a 2nd-round pick for the Boston Celtics and former Alabama standout on the court, was seen donning a Tennessee jersey following the Vols’ 52-49 win over the Tide Saturday. Davison had a made bet with teammate and Vols’ alum Grant Williams prior to kickoff.

Both look good in green, but does Davison rock the Orange and White, too?

The Third Saturday in October ended in stellar fashion thanks to a 40-yard game-winning field goal by Chase McGrath. Vols QB Hendon Hooker added more fuel to his Heisman case, throwing for 385 yards and 5 touchdowns against 1 interception. Running backs Jabari Small and Jaylen Wright combined for 124 rushing yards and a touchdown off 24 carries.

Davison spent 1 season under the direction of Nate Oats at The Capstone and averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team before electing to go pro this past April.

Williams, who was selected 22nd overall in 2019, spent 3 seasons at Rocky Top before going pro. For his Vols’ career, he averaged 15.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Williams named SEC Player of the Year in both 2018 and 2019.

The Celtics will face off against the Philadelphia 76ers to begin the new season at TD Garden. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern time on TNT.
