Jeff Traylor, UTSA HC, praises 'effort' of former Vol Martavius French
Jeff Traylor had some praise for a former Tenneseee player at Monday’s presser. Traylor sent some praise to Martavius French, who played for the Vols during the 2020 season.
French played in Knoxville for one season before heading to JUCO to play at Hutchinson C.C. French was a former 4-star recruit out of the 2020 class.
French led the Roadrunners in tackles in Week 3 and Traylor praised French’s effort on a particular play in the loss to Army.
“Effort. Kid keeps getting better each week,” said Traylor. “Really proud of Martavius. They motioned the back out and went and cracked our sam and our corner missed the tackle. Martavius, that was the linebacker’s man, he outran that linebacker and made the tackle on the far sideline.”
French has played in every game for UTSA so far this season and 11 last year. He had 22 total tackles, 1 pass deflection, and 1 tackle for loss in 2022.
Saturday will be the first time that the Volunteers and Roadrunners have played each other in football. Tennessee left The Swamp with a brutal 29-16 loss to Florida in Week 3.
Fans will be hoping that Week 4 will be a chance for the team get back on track.
