Jeremy Pruitt didn't see much change with Florida's offense with Kyle Trask replacing Feleipe Franks
It’s Florida Week on Rocky Top, which means Jeremy Pruitt and his program are prepping for one of the biggest games of the season for Vol Nation.
Tennessee coaches are judged by how their teams perform in this game and last season’s results were just brutal for Pruitt in his first crack at the Gators, as his Volunteers lost 47-21 in Neyland Stadium.
Pruitt now has an opportunity to even the score against the Gators but it’s going to take a big upset to accomplish that in Gainesville for the Volunteers. If you missed it on Saturday night, Florida starting quarterback Feleipe Franks went down with an injury and backup Kyle Trask entered the game and rallied the Gators to a big road win over Kentucky.
On Monday, Pruitt met with the media for the first time to breakdown the Gators and was asked to share his thoughts on facing Kyle Trask, instead of Franks on Saturday.
“They ran their offense, same plays, nothing different, may have executed better,” Pruitt said. “Obviously, they scored more points there in a short period of time. He’s a guy that’s competed for the quarterback job, very talented and has experience.”
Tennessee and Florida are scheduled to meet at Saturday, Sept. 21 at Noon on ESPN.
I would agree Trask executed better than Franks, he is the better passer of the 2 and with our WR corps we should score early and often.
I also thought FL looked better after Franks went down. I think they’ll do just fine with the backup guy. He’ll probably have a growing pain or two, like most QBs do when they get to play SEC defenses for the first time…
Agreed,I would say KY defense better than the vols coming up though.
You may be right, but UK didn’t seem to give many different looks on D. Maybe we can learn from that..
Pruitt doesn’t even know what a football looks like. Why would anybody ask him to give his opinion about a player talent?
You sir are an idiot.
No he’s right. Anyone who still supports Pruitt in his quest to destroy Tennessee through sheer incompetence is the idiot.
You people were better off with Butch Jones. He recruited better, he didn’t blame every loss on his players, and he had a better winning percentage. Oh yeah, he also had head coaching experience.
Don’t believe me then eat some FACTS. Butch Jones averaged a 13th ranked recruiting class across his 5 seasons, Pruitt is 16th. => talent level is dropping under Pruitt.
Butch Jones was .557 in his 5 years at Tennessee, but he had 3 bowl victories and 2 9 win seasons. Jeremy Pruitt is currently sitting on a .400 winning percentage and that is looking to go down now that his easy games are over with and the tough SEC schedule has arrived. Jeremy Pruitt can’t even count up to 9, let alone get that many wins.
I cannot factually prove to you that Butch Jones didn’t blame his players ever and that’s all that Jeremy Pruitt does do, but all you have to do is look at any one of their press conferences during their tenures and my statement will hold true to you. Butch Jones for all his fault took credit for failures, Pruitt has done nothing since his very first press conference on the job but say its all the fault of the players.
But keep sticking up for Jeremy Pruitt. He is doing nothing but dragging your program lower with each day he’s on the job. It’s the sunshine pumpers who are trying to claim he’s rebuilding the program, that or the people who take utter glee in the fact that Tennessee is burning out of control with no end in sight and they just want to throw more gas on the fire. Those types want nothing more than for UT to give Pruitt a lifetime contract as head coach.
I could go on and on with cold hard numerical facts such as Pruitt driving more players to leave the program in just 18 months than Butch Jones did in 5 seasons, or the fact that Jeremy Pruitt is losing his games by larger margins than Butch Jones was to the same teams, but at this point I believe it will all fall on deaf ears.
I just feel pity for your players out there stuck in a no win situation with an idiot for a head coach, and a fanbase that just wants to boo them every week and say how their QB sucks so much.
@gromit
I may have missed a couple pressers but the ones that I have seen Pruitt accepted the lions share of the blame. Also, weren’t Jones classes quite a bit oversize, inflating the ranking?
