The Tennessee Volunteers lost to Georgia State in Week 1, as you are well aware by now. Many have called out the team’s lack of effort in the loss.

Speaking on Wednesday, though, coach Jeremy Pruitt singled out a player who he thinks plays the game the right way.

During his press conference, Pruitt praised senior WR Jauan Jennings, saying he wished everyone worked as hard as him (via 247Sports):

“You know, Jauan has always been a really good practicer,” Pruitt said. “The guy just loves ball, you know? He really loves ball. He loves to practice, he loves to compete. You usually have to slow him down at practice, especially when he was injured a little bit there. He kind of had a little bit of a measuring stick on yards there from the GPS, and he was always way over it every day. I’ve said if before, you know, that you wish you could coach a team full of guys like Jauan.

“I’ve had the opportunity to coach a lot of really good players in my career, and guys that tried to do it the right way, and Jauan’s one of those guys.”

Jennings had 7 catches for 108 yards and 1 touchdown in Tennessee’s season-opening loss. He’s a leader on the offense and in the locker room.

Will more players follow his lead moving forward? We’ll see against BYU this weekend.
