Twice last season, Tennessee OL Trey Smith was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs, the second diagnosis forcing him to miss a few games at the end of the 2018 campaign.

He hasn’t been fully cleared to return to the field yet, but he’s still attempting to work his way back during spring practices this year.

On Monday night, Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt spoke with reporters and updated Smith’s condition. As you can see below, Pruitt said Smith plans to play again and is doing everything but contact:

Smith is a star when he’s on the field, so the Vols would certainly love to have him back. However, his health is what’s more important in the long run.

Hopefully, he’s able to make it through the spring healthy and return to the field this fall.
