Tennessee released its Game 1 depth chart on Tuesday, officially announcing Jarrett Guarantano as the Volunteers’ starting quarterback. Behind Guarantano, however, there was no clear separation, as Brian Maurer, J.T. Shrout and Harrison Bailey were all listed as the potential backups with the use of two or’s on the depth chart.

When Jeremy Pruitt met with the media after Wednesday’s practice, he was asked about his QB depth chart.

“We are going to continue to work all of our guys. As we get closer, we will make a decision on that,” Pruitt told reporters.

Of the three, Maurer has the most experience, appearing in eight games last season, going 35-of-75 as a passer for 541 yards, 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions while rushing 23 times for 56 yards and 2 TDs. Shrout played in 5 games, going 13-of-27 for 179 yards and a touchdown.

Bailey arrived on Rocky Top as the No. 3 pro-style quarterback and No. 99 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2020 on the 247Sports Composite.
