Joe Milton has been taking part in the Manning Passing Academy this week, and he wowed those in attendance with a memorable deep ball performance.

On Friday night, Milton and other college quarterbacks hit the field to show what they can do with their arms. While a number of players performed well, Milton particularly stole the show with his array of impressive deep throws.

According to Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy, Milton was 1 of 3 QBs to hit the deep golf cart in a skill passing competition. Others in attendance noted some of Milton’s throws traveled upwards of 70-80 yards in the air.

Here are some of the highlights Milton produced at Friday’s event:

Peyton Manning on Joe Milton

After the event, Peyton Manning noted the excitement surrounding Milton’s performance was arguably the most he’s ever seen for the Friday night event:

“I’m not sure there’s been more excitement to watch a kid throw at Friday Night Lights tonight than maybe Joe Milton,” said Manning. “He was throwing yesterday with my son, Marshall, who’s attending the camp this year. I mean, 40 yards is like a little flick for (Milton). It’s just a warm-up… I’m really proud of him for coming last year after Hendon (Hooker’s) injury and keeping things together and a great bowl win.”

It should be said arm strength has never been a concern for Milton who began his career at Michigan. The tougher challenge will be honing his accuracy and consistency in Josh Heupel’s offense this season.

If Milton is able to take the next step in his growth, he could produce a memorable performance for the Vols in 2023.
