Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker has led the Volunteers to a top-five ranking and a win over Alabama. The junior’s impressive numbers (1,817 yards passing, 287 yards rushing, 18 total touchdowns) and his performance in big games have put him firmly on the Heisman radar.

FOX Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt has Hooker at No. 2 on the Heisman favorite list behind Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud and ahead of Michigan running back Blake Corum.

Klatt said Hooker has worked his way into the Heisman discussion behind big-game performances.

“I thought before last week it was clearly C.J. Stroud in the lead and now it’s a nice little two-horse race, maybe three,” Klatt said.

“When it comes to Heismans, you’ve got to understand that really two things make a Heisman winner — great play and big stages.”
