John Fulkerson explains his decision to return for another season: ‘I wasn’t able to remember my last game as a Vol’
If you missed it, John Fulkerson announced he would be returning to Tennessee for a sixth season of eligibility on Friday.
The Volunteer forward declared his decision by posting an incredible video that had Vol Nation fired up for the next basketball season.
The way Fulkerson tells it, he had no intention of returning for another season when the NCAA initially announced it would allow all players a free season of eligibility but if God gave him a sign, he would listen.
Of course, Fulkerson’s senior season came to an end in the 2021 SEC Tournament when Florida’s Omar Payne delivered a vicious elbow to his face. That blow also knocked Fulkerson out of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
During a Friday appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show, Fulkerson shared that the fact he couldn’t even remember what would have been his final moment in a Tennessee jersey was the sign he needed to make the decision to return for one more season.
"…I wasn't able to remember my last game as a Volunteer. How much I cherish putting on that jersey."
