Jonas Aidoo trolled by Tennessee as fan’s altered jersey shown on jumbotron
Jonas Aidoo and the No. 23 Arkansas Razorbacks traveled to Knoxville on Saturday to take on the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers. It was a homecoming of sorts for Aidoo, who played at Tennessee for 3 seasons before transferring to Arkansas ahead of the 2024-25 season.
About halfway through the 2nd half of the game, the jumbotron at Food City Center showed a Tennessee fan wearing an Aidoo jersey. Except, this jersey had Aidoo and his number 0 scratched out, demonstrating the fact that there’s no love lost between Aidoo and Tennessee fans.
On the court, Aidoo never got going against his former team. The senior scored just 4 points and collected 5 rebounds while missing both of his free throw attempts. The Vols would go on to beat Aidoo and the Razorbacks by a final score of 76-52, opening up SEC play with a statement win.
For the Vols, Chaz Lanier led the way with 29 points while hitting 5-9 3-pointers. Igor Milicic Jr., meanwhile, grabbed a whopping 18 rebounds to go along with 13 points.
During his time in Arkansas so far, Aidoo has yet to replicate his best play at Tennessee. In the 2024-25 season, Aidoo is averaging 6.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game. With the loss on Saturday, the Razorbacks fall to 11-3 overall, with an 0-1 conference record. Meanwhile, the Vols improved to 14-0 overall and 1-0 in SEC play.
This will be the lone regular-season meeting between Tennessee and Arkansas this season, so Aidoo won’t have an opportunity for revenge.
