Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers had a big road game at Kentucky on Saturday night.
The Wildcats had lost 2 games in a row after a 6-0 start and entered the game on a skid. That skid continued against the dangerous Vols, as they came into Lexington and won 45-42.
It was a hard-fought game, and the Vols were in the partying mood after the game.
Heupel met with the media after the game and had plenty of positives to say about his squad. Here’s some of what he said:
On the postgame locker room atmosphere:
#Vols’ Josh Heupel on the locker room after tonight’s win at No. 18 Kentucky: The celebration was awesome, as it should be. We had a dance party.

On defensive effort in the 4th quarter:
Heupel on defensive pressure in the 4th Q: The competitive nature and the competitive composure. For them to do it in this moment, against a really good team on the road, speaks to who they are as a unit. I love their ability to reset and go finish the next four plays.

On getting some key points before halftime:
Josh Heupel on before half: "The style of the game mattered in terms of aggressiveness. Them getting the ball after half played a role in that. Picking up yards on first down helped."

On the play of QB Hendon Hooker:
Heupel on Hendon Hooker: He is continuing to grow and recognize defenses. He did a good job of staying in the pocket when things broke down. The sequence right before half was huge.

Tennessee gets a crack at No. 1 Georgia this coming Saturday. That game should be a big one on Rocky Top. We’ll see if the Vols can pull off the upset of the season.
