Mississippi State’s loss is Tennessee’s gain when it comes to the football recruiting trail.

Days after decommitting from the Bulldogs, safety Jourdan Thomas (2022) committed to the Volunteers on Saturday while on an official visit to Knoxville.

“It was a real easy decision for me because I just believe in Coach (Josh) Heupel and what he’s doing, and I just believe it’s a new era in that football program,” Thomas told GoVols247. “I think it’s heading in the right direction, and I just want to be a part of that there.”

A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Thomas is rated by the 247Sports Composite as a 3-star prospect and the No. 61 safety in the 2022 class. He is also rated as the No. 30 overall recruit in Alabama for 2022.

In addition to Tennessee and Mississippi State, Thomas also held offers from the likes of South Carolina, UCF, Indiana, and Memphis, among others.
