Julian Phillips, 5-star 2022 forward out of Missouri, announces SEC commitment
Julian Phillips is one of the top players in the 2022 basketball recruiting class. On Thursday, the 5-star forward announced his college commitment.
Phillips, a native of Branson, Missouri, had a final 7 of Auburn, USC, Tennessee, Florida State, South Carolina, the G League and Overtime Elite.
On Thursday on CBS Sports HQ, Phillips announced he’d be heading to Rocky Top this coming season, citing his great relationship with coach Rick Barnes.
Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Phillips is the No. 12 overall recruit in the class of 2022, the No. 4 small forward and the No. 1 recruit from the state of Missouri.
The Volunteers now have 2 players in their 2022 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 36 in the nation and No. 8 in the SEC, per 247Sports.
Vols will be in contention for the SEC once again next year !
In contention? Heck we’re going to win it!
It was down to the Vols and Auburn, sorry Bruce…not really.
Great pick up! Fits in our biggest area of need perfectly. Welcome to Big Orange Country Julian!
Barnes can get the players, now he needs to get out of the first two rounds of the NCAA tourney!
Rocky Top is really rolling at the moment. GO BIG ORANGE!!!
Oh my, the BURN Mizzou! Losing your state’s best player to the VOLS!
He’s not from Branson. There’s a prep school there that has a lot of national players. He’s from South Carolina.
I don’t blame him. 3 terrible coaching hires have all but destroyed the program. Someone did some research on it and we’ve had the worst 10 year stretch in school history. Gates has his work cut out for him, but hopefully we’ll be more competitive for players like this in the coming years.
Sad attempt at trolling.
It really was a sad attempt.
