Kirk Herbstreit names top-performing players from Week 4, spotlighting Tennessee defensive unit
Kirk Herbstreit has revealed his list of the most impressive players from Week 4 in college football.
The veteran analyst always identifies the players who caught his eye after each week of action. This week, Herbstreit shouted out 6 individual players and 1 entire unit.

The entire unit that earned a shoutout was the Tennessee defensive line. That unit was instrumental in limiting Oklahoma to just 222 total yards of offense. The Sooners only gained 36 rushing yards and Tennessee collected 3 sacks and 11 tackles for loss.

Tyre West, Jaxson Moi, James Pearce Jr., and Jayson Jenkins all received a sack in the game. Omari Thomas, Elijah Simmons, Omar Norman-Lott, Bryson Eason, and Daevin Hobbs all added a tackle, showing a full team effort from the Vols’ defensive line.
Herbstreit’s No. 1 performer of the week was Michigan running back Kalel Mullings. Mullings collected 159 yards and 2 TDs in a win over USC. Alonza Barnett III of James Madison and Cam Ward of Miami (FL) were No. 2 and 3 after quarterbacking their teams to big wins. The aforementioned Vols took the No. 4 spot.
At No. 5, Herbstreit had Blake Horvath of Navy. Hortvath rushed for 211 yards and 4 TDs. The QB also threw for 192 yards and 2 TDs in a big win over Memphis. At No. 6, Herbstreit selected Florida State’s Patrick Payton. Payton had 4 tackles and 3 sacks against the Cal Golden Bears.
Finally, Herbstreit had Kaleb Johnson of Iowa. The RB racked up 206 rushing yards and 3 scores in a commanding win over Minnesota.
1 should have gone to Georgia fans. After all the choking the fans are still with them. Recruits? Not so much.
