What a season it was for Tennessee basketball. The Volunteers reached No. 1 in the rankings and spent much of the season atop the SEC standings. While some teams are carried by superstar freshmen, the 2018-19 UT team was built on an ensemble cast of veterans, led by Admiral Schofield.

Tennessee’s season and Schofield’s college hoops career came to an end earlier than expected when UT fell in the Sweet 16 to Purdue. The departing senior took out a full-page ad in the Knoxville News Sentinel to let Big Orange Nation know that it’s just the beginning and he believes UT will be competing for future championships in multiple sports.

Check out Schofield’s message below:

“I think we have set a standard for what athletics can do when you buy into your culture – when you buy into what it takes to win. As a University, we should pride ourselves in being tough. It shouldn’t just be our basketball program. It should be everyone. Just like ‘One Fly, We All Fly’ touched the nation and our University. The way we played the game, the way we approached every day, the attitude we installed into the program, it should bleed into every sport.

“I think from here on out there’s no reason why the Tennessee Volunteers shouldn’t be in the conversations to win championships in every sport. I’m appreciative to be a Vol, and things are only going to get better at Tennessee.”
