With former Tennessee AD John Currie’s emails, texts and phone calls released to the public recently, reporters have been combing through the data for anything of interest.

Max Olson of The Athletic went through all the information and found that, out of everyone involved in Tennessee’s long, drawn-out coaching search this offseason, former Tennessee coach (and current Florida Atlantic coach) Lane Kiffin was the overwhelming favorite of fans who emailed Currie.

On Monday evening, Kiffin responded to that report, linking to the article and thanking Tennessee fans for their support:

Obviously, the Vols decided not to bring Kiffin back to Knoxville, opting instead for former Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt.

Still, even though Kiffin signed a 10-year extension with FAU this offseason, he’s clearly a hot commodity, and could end up at a bigger program as soon as the 2019 season. It just doesn’t appear that program will be Tennessee.
