The Tennessee Volunteers embarked on one of the longest, strangest coaching searches in recent memory following the 2017 season.

Before landing then-Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt, there were protests, rumors aplenty and a change at athletic director.

Washington State coach Mike Leach was one of the names linked to the opening, and he joined “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Wednesday, discussing what that situation was like:

There are a lot of “what ifs” that came out of that offseason in Knoxville, and we may never know everything that went on behind the scenes.

However, the Vols do seem a bit more stable now under Pruitt, and are once again on the rise. Who knows how things would be different if Leach had taken the job?
