Justin Coleman’s time in Detroit is set to come to an end.

This news comes two years after the former Tennessee defensive back landed a massive contract to play for the Lions, signing a four-year deal with $36 million, which included a $10,145,000 signing bonus, $17,900,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $9,000,000 according to Spotrac.

Now at the midway point of that contract, the Lions plan to release Coleman reports NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

During his time with the Lions, Coleman made 16 starts and made a total of 27 appearances. The defensive back registered 84 tackles, an interception and 14 passes defended during that time.

Coleman was not selected in the 2015 NFL Draft but caught on with the New England Patriots for two seasons before playing two years in Seattle. At that time, he was considered one of the best inside corners in the NFL.

Now it looks like he’ll have to find a new home in 2021.
