Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt received considerable push back for his comments about the Vols “closing the gap” against Alabama following a 48-17 loss in Knoxville on Saturday.

SEC Network host Paul Finebaum took a sarcastic tone about those comments on Monday morning during his regular visit with “The Roundtable” on 94.5 FM in Birmingham, Alabama.

“I hate to get involved in other people’s personal health, but I strong recommend Jeremy Pruitt making an appointment this morning with an eye doctor if that’s what he thought,” Finebaum said. “It’s the same Tennessee game I’ve seen now for about 12 or 13 years. Every once in a while it gets a little closer, we all know when, but that game look like last year’s game, the year before, the year before and the year before. I think that’s pretty pathetic when that’s the best you can offer your fan base when getting your head knocked around for four hours. But hey, give him another raise.”

The decision was something that fans around the SEC have been accustomed to in this rivalry. QB Mac Jones passed for 387 yards and ran for a touchdown, and RB Najee Harris added three more TDs as Alabama added the 14th straight win in this rivalry.
