Paul Finebaum and Chris “Mad Dog” Russo broke down the first College Football Playoff rankings on ESPN’s “First Take” on Wednesday, and agreed that Tennessee has the best resume, and therefore should be No. 1.

Russo added that he would rank Georgia No. 2, and Ohio State No. 3.

Russo predicted a fight with Finebaum over, “I know they have tradition, but how the hell is Clemson fourth? They barely beat Wake Forest, who then gets killed by Louisville, and they should have lost to Syracuse, who lost to Notre Dame who’s got 3 losses. How is Clemson 4, Michigan should be 4.”

Finebaum agreed with Russo, and added that Michigan’s non-conference schedule was weak, but they’ve beaten some solid teams, especially lately.

“I’m not impressed with Clemson, I’m not impressed at all with the ACC, we made a big deal a couple weeks ago, and then Clemson wins at Wake Forest,” Finebaum said. “The only thing about Clemson, they have a chance to redeem themselves, or be eliminated Saturday night at Notre Dame.”

Finebaum added that only Ohio State could compete at the top of the SEC, and Michigan to a lesser degree.

“Oregon very well may win the Pac-12 Dog, they lost to Georgia by 46 points,” Finebaum said. “Is that even possible to have that conversation, that schools like that should be in this conversation.”

Russo denied having SEC bias because he doesn’t live in Atlanta, but if the committee wanted to do it right, it would put Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and the Ohio State-Michigan winner in the Playoff.

“Those are the 4 best teams in the country,” he said.
