Paul Finebaum explains why he's all-in on Tennessee as a Playoff team
Paul Finebaum is a Tennessee alum, but you don’t need to have gone to school on Rocky Top to be impressed by this year’s Vols squad.
Tennessee just went into Norman and took down No. 15 Oklahoma 25-15. QB Nico Iamaleava is calm and cool. Dylan Sampson is a powerful runner. The defense has been incredible. Josh Heupel is firing on all cylinders as a coach.
Things are looking good in Knoxville. On Sunday morning’s edition of SportsCenter, Finebaum explained why he’s all-in on his alma mater during a segment called “Paul In or Paul Out”:
“I am Paul Paul Paul In In In,” he said. “Come on, go Vols. This was a big-time win for Tennessee. No school colors showing here for the (Tennessee) graduate, but the point being, they have been woeful on the road, as you guys know. They finally ended that last night.
“Now let’s be frank here. Oklahoma is not the Oklahoma of Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray and the good old days. This is more of a pedestrian unit. Jackson Arnold certainly struggled. But Tennessee’s got everything going. Quite frankly, this looks like easily a Playoff team and maybe a team that could play late into January.”
Not many around the country would argue with Finebaum’s sentiment after Saturday. We’ll see where the Vols land in the updated AP Poll on Sunday afternoon.
Only time will tell Paul. One game at a time.
