SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum was on “Mike & Mike” this morning to talk about the disturbing allegations against Tennessee head coach Butch Jones.

It was reported on Wednesday that a new legal filing stated that Jones told a player he “betrayed the team” for helping a woman who claimed she was raped by two other football players.

Finebaum, a Tennessee alumnus, says in some ways the accusation is unprecedented.

“In 35 years of covering college football, these allegations are some of the most shocking I have ever seen leveled against an active, major head coach.”

Finebaum went on to say that the school is scrambling to find a resolution to this issue.

“Right now, the university is in panic mode. They’re behind Butch Jones. They wouldn’t have released that statement last night if they didn’t believe in him, and the entire reputation of this university is at stake here. This is a federal lawsuit. This isn’t some wacko off the street who files lawsuits for his health.”

Later on Wednesday, Jones released this statement in response to the allegations against him.

Athletic director Dave Hart is scheduled to speak with the media at 1 p.m. ET today.
