Can uncle Peyton help the Vols? Tennessee's new staff offers scholarship to Arch Manning
There could soon be a new sheriff on Rocky Top.
That’s because the new coaching staff in Knoxville made sure to inform Arch Manning he has a scholarship offer from Tennessee according to 247Sports. Arch, the nephew of Peyton Manning, is the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the nation for the 2023 recruiting cycle.
While Jeremy Pruitt’s staff previously extended a scholarship offer to Arch Manning, Josh Heupel and his Volunteer coaching staff recently made sure that the Isidore Newman product from New Orleans knew he still has a spot reserved for him on Rocky Top.
Considering Tennessee recently swung and missed on a few 2022 quarterback prospects, including five-star in-state prospect Ty Simpson — who happens to be close to Arch — one could make the case that the path to the field on Rocky Top has opened up for Peyton’s nephew.
How realistic is it that Arch could end up following his uncle to Tennessee? That remains to be seen but the success of Heupel’s offense on the field and a resolution to the looming NCAA issues the program faces will likely play major factors in the recruitment of the elite passer.
Manning recently shared his sophomore season highlight reel with Isidore Newman and it has nearly 20,000 views in two days.
I don’t see it happening; however, if the new staff can display an ability to actually coach and further develop player, there may be a long shot chance.
Personally I don’t see why Arch wouldn’t want to make his own legacy rather than try to follow in the footsteps of his family. Regardless of where he goes, I wish him great success!
Well captain obvious of course he still has a scholly offer from the vols. He has a scholly offer from every team in the country. who would say no thinks.
Assuming LSU is still playing and recruiting well and their offense suits him I would guess he ends up there, to make his own legacy, as kimsey says. But sometimes kids like to follow relatives for lots of reasons. I dont know if he has accompanied Peyton to rocky top or anything to have a feel for the place but I bet he has been to ole miss a bunch with grandpa, dad and uncle eli. I would give ole miss an edge over UT with our disarray right now and give both decent chances. Of course the product on the field will have an impact. It doesnt feel good for UT right now but its a long way to 2023. If he came to UT his street could cross Peyton pass and be called Arch Way…LOL.
I just hope he choses where he wants to go, and not feel pressured. The Manning’s (by all indications) are a solid family I doubt he’ll be pressured by relatives and more likely they’re giving him support, confidence and encouragement to make the decision his own. But even more than that, after he does start his college career wherever that may be, hopefully people let him be Arch and his own kind of player/QB as opposed to constant comparisons to other Manning’s. I’m less confident in that simply because fans will be fans and the media will be the media.
He can go anywhere he wants as long as it’s not Bama.
TazMan you don’t need to worry about who is or isn’t playing quarterback at Alabama. You need to worry about at least winning a conference championship in something. At last count Tam hasn’t won an SEC championship since Coach Stallings talked the conference in taking ya’ll into the conference back in 2011. At least Missouri has won the East in footbal a couple of times
Arch Manning to Tennessee…not hardly. Maybe to Mississippi but definitely not to the Vols.
Idk. His buddy at Bama? The 3rd Saturday in October might take on a new meaning. RTR and fAU.
Hey thanks Thig!
Even if he somehow chose ATM, he’d just transfer out. They couldn’t see the value of a future #1 pick in the NFL draft, so it is a good bet they wouldn’t handle Manning well either. Stick with Kellen Mond types.
thig, thank you for all your wonderful advice I will be sure to give it all the consideration it deserves.
Who knows where he will go? I would think Ole Miss with Kiffen and the Manning legacy would have a better chance than UT.
With Archie and Eli both going to Old Miss I would think Arch might follow in his Dad and Grandpa’s footsteps.
It’ll be a cold day in hell before that happens. The Mannings know better than to let that kid walk into that trainwreck.
Ole Miss would be my guess for this young man.
He wants to play for Drinkwitz.
M-I-Z!
Eli followed his dads footsteps so if that trend holds it’ll be Ole Miss. Who knows but I’m sure it’ll be SEC.
Ole Miss seems like a more likely destination unless Heupel whips up an absolute miracle and quickly takes over the East.
This is the son of Cooper Manning, who was set to play WR for Ole Miss before a health condition ended his career even before it started. Peyton has said many times that he would have gone to Ole Miss to play with his brother otherwise. Ole Miss is hands down the team to beat here. Peyton picked UT because they were an ascending program and Ole Miss was down in 1994. UT is a toxic waste dump of a program now, and shouldn’t be in the picture, just because this kid’s uncle played there.
