Manning appeared during the final bars of Chesney’s ode to football, “The Boys of Fall,” which received a huge response from the crowd. The five-time NFL MVP played at Tennessee from 1994-97 and finished with 11,201 yards, 89 touchdowns and 33 interceptions.

Manning won the Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Player of the Year honors and was a consensus All-American during his senior year in 1997 and set numerous career passing records at Tennessee.

Chesney is a native of East Tennessee and a lifelong Vols fan. He and Manning shared a duet on a remake of his 1993 hit “Whatever it Takes” for an NFL Country compilation album.

Manning is also scheduled to represent Tennessee alongside governor Bill Haslam during the coin toss Saturday for the “Battle at Bristol,” which will kickoff at 8 p.m.
