The Tennessee Volunteers got off to a rough start in 2019, losing to teams like Georgia State and BYU.

However, things ended on a high note, as the Vols turned their year around to finish with an 8-5 overall record and a bowl win over Indiana.

On “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday, AD Phillip Fulmer joined the show and said he is excited with the way the year ended and hopes coach Jeremy Pruitt can build on this momentum for 2020 (via 247Sports):

“There’s lots of excitement around it,” Fulmer said. “This is a team (in 2019) that really got better during the course of the year. Coach Pruitt did a great job of holding it together. And the staff did a great job. Defensively we played at a very high level for the last part of the season. Offensively, respectable but we stopped turning the ball over like we had early in the season. We became a pretty good football team.

“Had a good recruiting class on top of that, so certainly there’s a lot of excitement and expectations around the team next year and going forward. And that’s what we want at Tennessee. That’s the way it should be.”

How will the Vols fare in 2020? We’ll find out this fall.
