Following Tennessee’s 47-21 loss to Florida last week, Vols athletic director Phillip Fulmer made a Wednesday night appearance on “Vol Calls.”

Fulmer’s mindset wasn’t unlike that of any other fan, saying that six turnovers will mar any team’s efforts.

Fulmer praised Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt’s attitude after the loss.

“Well I mean, to Jeremy [Pruitt]’s credit, he was obviously very disappointed,” Fulmer said, per GoVols247. “I’m sure the staff is the same way. But, you know, he’s a big boy. He knew we didn’t get ourselves a chance.“

Fulmer continued in saying that he thinks the Vols are more talented than what they showed against the Gators.

“Are we better than we played? Absolutely we are. But until you go play that way, how do you know?”

“He was actually pleased, you know, for the first time — he’s been emphasizing it since he started — he felt like the kids really did compete, to their credit.”

On the Monday after the Florida game, Pruitt said that he saw different players strewn about the facility, watching film to learn from the loss and prepare for Georgia.

And Fulmer noticed.

“But nobody has made any excuses or anything. They just went back to work and I admire them for that.”

Tennessee will try to rebound this week, as the Vols travel to Athens to take on Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs on Saturday.
