Tennessee officials are discussing head coach Butch Jones’ future at the school, according to a report from SEC Country’s Mike Griffith.

“University of Tennessee officials are discussing Butch Jones’ immediate future as head coach of the Vols on Sunday afternoon,” Griffith said.

He cited sources close to the program.

Tennessee is 3-5 on the season, having lost four consecutive games, and is still winless against the SEC.

On Saturday night, the Vols suffered a 29-26 defeat at Kentucky — UT’s second loss to the Wildcats in the past 33 years.

“Jones normally meets with the media on Monday at noon, but this week’s plans have not yet been announced by the school,” Griffith said.

Florida reportedly parted ways with its head coach, Jim McElwain, on Sunday afternoon. It is unclear whether that move by the Vols’ key SEC East rival played a part in the UT administration’s decision to discuss Jones’ future.
