Is Peyton Manning headed back to the Colts?

While he won’t usurp Andrew Luck as the starting quarterback, owner Jim Irsay would love to see Manning return to Indianapolis in a front office capacity (via a report from Jay Glazer):

The Colts are said to have had interest in luring Jon Gruden back into the NFL potentially as their head coach. Irsay would also like to have Manning as the franchise’s head of football operations.

Manning has no experience when it comes to front office work. Since retiring, he’s enjoyed pursuits in multiple fields — including acting and television work.

Under Irsay’s leadership, the Colts drafted Manning in 1998. Without question, the pairing equaled considerable success on the field — culminating in a 2007 Super Bowl win over the Chicago Bears.

Glazer isn’t so sure Manning would leap at the chance to return to Indianapolis:

It will be fascinating to see how this story ultimately unfolds.
